Endure

My new tattoo, in case I haven't mentioned it, is inspired by verse 23 of the Dhammapada which begins, "I shall bear harsh words. As the elephant in battle endures arrows, so shall I, for I know that most people behave poorly." Words can be actions, of myself and others, and people can be me behaving poorly myself as well.

I just looked up my paycheck for Friday and it's half as much as it should be. The missing half would be my vacation, which I put in a request for, selecting to be compensated by Vacation and Personal time. I can't be absolutely certain why this is missing, but I'm inclined to believe it's the same person that seems to annoy to infuriate me on a regular basis. I'm positive I didn't screw this up, but I can't say with certainty that he did it. I don't really know what happened, I just know I need my money.

Throat is better, I think. I didn't lose my voice at work today. Called the Doctor's office and they told me they hadn't gotten the results of the throat culture back, which seems strange since I was in there last Thursday, but, whatever. I'll find out.

Made an appointment to get a broken tooth looked at.

Heard back about volunteering at CAKE, the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo. It'll be the third weekend in June and should be loads of fun. The guy that contacted me is Neil who I met at Quimby's and SPX years ago and who still kind of stay in touch with now. Neil's cool.

This is just a laundry list of events. That's not interesting.

Last Wednesday I got a notice form my apartment people giving me a day's notice to decide if I want to sign a new lease or not. Kind of shitty. Ever since they hired a new woman for the office, the quality of service has gone down hill. In the past I'd have a month to consider. This time ... a day. I'll probably stay? I doubt I'd have much luck getting out of it now. It's cheaper this way. And who wants to mess with moving.

God. I'd be perfectly happy at work except for minor, forgettable annoyances if it weren't for this guy. Every day it's something else with him.

Hooked on Fringe. I was a little disappointed with the season 1 finale when (spoilers) the big surprise at the end was the guest appearance of Leonard Nimoy. I could see that being amazing as a Big Bang finale, but I was hoping for something a little more story-based.

God damn.
