Deep and Swollen
I remember back in college I was having some throat issues. I was at my parents' house in St. Charles and I went to an urgent care facility and they prescribed me Amoxicillin. That took care of the problem and when it happened another time while I was at school the same medicine achieved the same result.
Since then, there've been several times when I've had a sore throat, but if I gave it time it went away.
The last couple of weeks it was happening again. It always seems to be seasonal and since it went away the last time and hasn't really been a problem in ten years, I've just let it go. But a few days ago it got worse. And then the next day worse still, so I made an appointment and went in.
The nurse practitioner saw me and started talking Strep right off. It wouldn't surprise me. I used to get it from my sister all the time when we were kids until her tonsils were removed. She prescribed me Penicillin even though the rapid test was negative. She said they'd call me about the throat culture, but I didn't here from her and that was Thursday. I should have called yesterday.
I was off yesterday, kind of fortuitously. A coworker wanted hours so she volunteered to take my shift and I, not being crazy, said yes. It gave me a day to get better, but it didn't really work. I worked today and good gravy was that a terrible experience. We were extra busy from some MU vs. KU game, which, I don't care about, and then there were call-ins and I sounded like an exasperated pirate with laryngitis all day.
I got out of work from tomorrow. I'll take my medicine and drink some tea and do something else. I'm going to watch a bunch of Fringe, which I'm hooked on after starting this week, and brush the cat hair from the carpet. Hopefully on Monday I'll be better and I'm definitely calling about that throat culture.
Now you're up to speed. Thanks for the well wishes!
