As I said in my last post, I've casted the characters in my NaNoWriMo novel, The Arctic Heart. This give me an attractive image in my head and an idea of how they would speak and move. In this case, I've cast Carey Mulligan as Anna, the female lead in my story. I, like many people, first noticed her when she played Sally Sparrow in the Doctor Who episode entitled "Blink". Since then she has only grown more lovely. I feel she has the necessary size, inner fire and wintery appearance necessary for this role.

Anna is more than just the female ingenue. She is a woman who has been broken by war, in several ways. She fights not for the respect of the men she works with, but to get past the issue entirely and do the work she's come to do. And then suddenly, there's someone else, a man with a fascinating and startling presence ...

Your chest will beat wildly with the stillness of The Arctic Heart, coming soon to a theatre near you ... as I dream.

Tonight I got to just past 16,000 words, which is a great showing considering I haven't written anything in about 4 days. It comes easily though, and I am still excited witch each new beat. I just got past "the attack" and next, very soon, is "the meeting".

I can't believe it, but I think I'll actually write this entire thing.

For your excerpt this evening:

“Alright, then, Dr. Fitz. See you in the morning.” With an elegant ease, his gloves stretch back onto his long hands and his black cap pulls down on his head. He opens the door to leave, pushing against the wind that threatens to hold it closed. A long howl from somewhere over the hills to the north creeps into the laboratory as he pauses and turns back to her.

Love this! You're catching up with me on word count- I hope to really knuckle down on my 3-day veteran's day weekend- writing and working is hard.

I know what you mean, but as long as I can separate the two, I do okay. Are you on twitter? I do a lot of updating there and I've made a few friends.
