Shut up
As I was walking into the coffee shop, I had to step around the bricks of the opening to avoid what appeared to be ice cream running through the spaces and down onto the sidewalk. It was odd. Inside, I settled on a table, started to set up one way, then decided to face the opposite direction and a table surrounded by 7 people.
Certain places should be quiet.
There's the obvious. The library, a church, a hospital, a funeral parlor. I guess you could assume that quiet is synonymous with respect. Respect for another person's peace to read, worship, recuperate and mourn.
I'd like to extend that peace. There's an unwritten rule that certain places have a volume not to be exceeded, but because it's unwritten it is also unfollowed by some. These are the people that make my conscience say in reference to my inclination to murder and maim for inane reasons, "Yeah, you know what? You can have this one. Go for it."
Shut up. Shut up in the bookstores, bathrooms, and coffee shops. Shut up when you're standing in line at the grocery store. Shut up when you're on the toilet in a public restroom. Shut up, shut up, shut up. When you are the loudest person in the room and you are not making a speech or the leader of the band, you are too loud and the people around you are annoyed. We do not want to be in your group. That's why we're sitting over here and not over there.
This post has been brought to you by my burning hatred for the people sitting at that table over there, who are way too loud and disturbing the peace I was seeking by coming here. C'mon, people. I had to work today.
